Bandu Gunaratne started his journey in Creative Art Photography in early eighties. Bandu Gunaratne has been able to bag innumerable awards and accolades from local and international Photography competitions. He has shared his knowledge by commissioning as a mentor in numerous local Photography Workshops and Seminars organized by government departments, non govt organizations, private sector institutions, schools, photo clubs and universities in Sri Lanka. He also has served as a member of the panel of selectors in diversified local photo competitions and as an international judge in countless International Photo Salons. Bandu had his opportunity to travel more than 25 countries which has influenced him to become a keen Travel Photographer. Presently Gunaratne is serving as a visiting lecturer of Photography accomplished for seven consecutive years at the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka. He too serves as a lecturer at Sri Lanka College of Journalism and the National Photographic Art Society of Sri Lanka. Bandu Gunaratne was conferred with prestigious ‘Kalabhushana’ - once in lifetime award by the government of Sri Lanka – in 2021 as a tribute to his services rendered to the field of Photography. Apart from that he was awarded with ‘Suwanda Padma’ Sovereign Award by Mihindu Cultural Foundation and ‘Vishwabhinandana’ Award by the Western Provincial Council of Sri Lanka. Bandu Gunaratne is the Country Leader for Crossing Bridges – Photography Community of nine countries – Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, South Korea, Taiwan and Australia.
