BONDA TRIBE IS RECOGNIZED BY THE CONSTITUTION OF THE INDIAN REPUBLIC. THE BONDA ARE KNOEN AS “THE NACKED PEOPLE” AND HAVE POPULATION OF ABOUT 5,000 AND LIVE IN MALKANGIRI DISTRICT FORMALY PART OF UNDIVIDED KARAPUT IN ODISHA. THEY ALSO KNOWN AS THE BONDO, BONDO PORAJA AND BHONDA. THEY ARE KNOW BY THEMSELVES AS “REMO” WHICH MEANS “MAN” THEY HAVE THEIR OWN “REMO” LANGUAGE HAVING NO SCIPT. THIS BELONGS TO MUNDARI GROUP OF LANGUAGE. THEY ARE GENERALLY SEMI- CLOTHED . THEIR CLOTHES AR MADE UP OF JUTES. THESE ARE SELF WEAVEN AND VERY COLOURFUL. BONDA WOMEN WEAR LARGE AND THICK BRASS OR ALUMINIUM CIRCULAR AND COUNTLESS COLOURFUL BEADS LOOPED ANOUND THEIR HEAD AND NECK. EARLIER, EACH BONDA HOUSEHOLD USED TO HAVE A KITCHENGARDEN , NOW THEY BUY VEGETABLES FROM THE MARKET. THEY USED TO HUNT AND FORAGE FOR FOOD IN THE WILD. BONDAS NOW PRACTICE SHIFTING AGRICULTURE IN THE HILLS NOT ONLY FOY CONSUMPTION, BUT ALSO TO SELL THE PRODUCE IN THE MARKETS. THESE BONDA PEOPLE WORK TOGETHER TO HELP EACHOTHER . NOW THEY ARE HABITUATED TO EAT SOME DIFFERENT TYPE OF RICE WHICH WE FIND MOSTLY IN ODISHA
